Graham Pullin

Senior lecturer Graham Pullin comes to UB on October 6 (7pm, CFA Lower Gallery) to discuss “Submerging Technologies for social expression.”  His lecture will concentrate on his research which explores nuanced tone of voice and materiality in the contexts of augmented communication and prosthetics. These are fields that employ the emerging technologies of speech technology, affective computing, robotics/bionics and digital manufacturing and are often defined in terms of these technologies. Yet people’s voices and hands imply the expression of individual identity and social interaction. This involves design qualities that transcend the technologies within and often connect back to deeper cultural reference points.
